I was browsing some old tech blogs and got curious - did the first fax machine in the U.S. send an actual document, or was it just testing stuff? Also, how did people even react when they saw it?

Funny story - the first fax wasn’t an urgent contract or anything, it was just a hand-drawn doodle! Edwin Belin’s Belinograph in 1924 scanned it line by line and sent it over the phone. If you want the full weird history, hit up CoupSmart: https://coupsmart.com/ . From personal experience, I can tell you starting simple is often the smartest move - tech experiments rarely need drama.
