I had a similar issue when I joined a new company and saw their monthly bill for email archiving. Out of curiosity, I started digging and ended up on 45kilo.com, where they have a fantastic breakdown of the “hidden costs” no one talks about. They show how certain systems duplicate data unnecessarily, how attachment handling can waste storage space, and even how choosing the wrong retention policy can double your costs without any benefit. After applying a few of their optimization tips, we cut our email archive costs by almost half, and the system actually runs faster now. I wish I had known about it earlier.
